Townsville Touch Community Celebrates the 2024 Joanne Sale Award Nominees

The Townsville Touch Football community is abuzz as the nominees for the prestigious 2024 Joanne Sale Award for Volunteer of the Year have been announced.

All nominees will be recognised tonight at the Townsville Junior Touch Football Grand Finals, shining a spotlight on individuals who have shown outstanding dedication and service. The overall recipient will also be announced, and presented by members of the Sale family.

2024 Nominees

Daniel Spargo, nominated by Brothers Touch Club for his unparalleled passion for the sport and his indispensable role both within the club and to Townsville Touch Football. Dan's contributions extend beyond his own club; he is a pivotal figure in both the Townsville Touch Football regular competitions and the Townsville Saints representative programme. His efforts in developing players and referees across these platforms exemplify his drive and commitment. Dan's executive positions at Brothers Touch underscore his dedication to the club’s growth, making him a deserving nominee.

Richard Strike, nominated by Jots-Tigers Touch Club, is another impressive nominee. Known for his exceptional dedication, Richard has been instrumental in advancing the junior segment of the club. His hands-on approach in coaching and mentoring, coupled with his knack for rallying community support, has significantly boosted participation and brought renewed vigor to the Jots Tigers. Richard’s collaborative spirit and his positive influence make him a standout candidate for this year's accolade.

Kate Cutts, nominated by Redskins Touch Club, has also been nominated for her multifaceted involvement in the sport. Over the last five years, Kate's roles as club referee coordinator, secretary, and general club member have been of great benefit to her club. Kate’s leadership and passion are evident in every task she undertakes, making her a vital contender for the award.

Anthony Marr, nominated by Townsville Junior Touch has been highlighted for his unwavering support and the crucial role he played during challenging times. Anthony stepped in seamlessly to assist the association when TTF's President, Glen Wilson, was out-of-action, ensuring stability and continuity. His extensive involvement, from pre-game setups to coaching and refereeing, demonstrates his versatility and dedication. Anthony’s behind-the-scenes efforts, like maintaining club facilities, further illustrate his commitment to the sport and the community.

 

Presentations to the nominees and the overall recipient will be made tonight at Queens Park, during the Townsville Junior Touch Football grand finals.
