Busy Year Ahead for Touch Football

Touch Football is set for a busy and exciting twelve months with local competitions and tournaments filling the calendar at all levels of the sport.

2017 Youth Trans Tasman — January 20-22 (Auckland, NZ)

The year starts with a bang, with the 2017 Youth Trans-Tasman series (Under 18's, Under 20's) taking place in Auckland, New Zealand from January 20-22. 2017 Townsville Senior Competitions (Winter) - Starting February 26, March 6 & 7

Touch football returns to town on Sunday February 26 with the commencement of the 2017 TCHTA Premier Men's & Women's club competition. Clubs have already started taking registrations, so head to www.townsvilletouch.com to register today!

If you're looking to play a little less competitively, TCHTA also conducts a graded mixed competition on Monday nights, starting March 6.

For our touch football veterans, weekly competitions catering for Over 30's, Over 35's and Over 40's get underway on Tuesday March 7.

All senior-level competitions conclude with Grand Finals in the second week of August.

2017 Townsville Junior Mixed Season — Starting March 9

After the success of last years inaugural Junior Mixed competitions, Townsville Junior Touch Football has extended the competition to a full two-term season. Starting in early March, the competitions will play a twelve-week season followed by semi-finals on June 15 and culminating in Grand Finals on June 22.

National Touch League & Elite 8 Series - March 9-12 (Coffs Harbour, NSW)

The penultimate event on the national calendar, the National Touch League and Elite 8 series will see the best of the best from across the country battle it out to become national champions. A host of local players have been selected into NQ Cyclones (NTL) or QLD Cowboys (Elite 8) representative sides, joining a tonne of support staff and officials in Coffs Harbour for the event.

North Queensland Championships - June 17-18 (Townsville, QLD)

The best of the best from across the North will converge on Townsville in June to compete for the coveted title of 'Regional Champions'. All the action takes place at Queens Park, North Ward.

Townsville Cash Comp - July 1-2

With last year's Competitive division winners taking home $4500, and the Social division winners walking away with $2200, this year's Cash Comp is sure to be another hotly contested one! Nominations will open in March/April so stay tuned to the Townsville Touch Cash Comp facebook page!

NQ All Schools (Secondary) - August 19-20 (Townsville, QLD)

For many schools across the North, the NQ All Schools has become an annual pilgrimage to Townsville for the chance to be crowned "The Best Touch Football School in North Queensland". Speak to your school and make sure you don't miss out on the opportunity to be involved in this awesome event!

QLD Junior State Championships - August 25-27 (Townsville, QLD)

The Junior State Championships return to Townsville in 2017 and will see the best junior players from across the state battle it out. Junior Cyclones will be named after the final round of selection trials take place on February 26, so our juniors are training hard in the meantime to ensure they can match it with the best from across our region.

2017 Townsville Senior Competitions (Summer) - Starting August 28 & 30

This summer at Queens Park will be hot, with the TCHTA Mixed, Men's and Women's mid-week competitions tapping off in the last week of August.

Whether you're looking to play social, corporate or competitive mixed touch football, TCHTA has a competition for you, with your choice of either Monday or Wednesday nights. Wednesday nights will also feature separate graded Men's and Women's competitions where you can play socially or competitively.

The season will conclude with Grand Finals from December 4.

2017 Townsville Junior Boys & Girls Season - Starting August 31 & September 1

The biggest weekly junior touch football competition in North Queensland gets underway from Thursday August 30 (13's - 16's) and Friday September 1 (7's - 12's). We make sure that all of our teams have accredited coaches, so if you've never played touch football before, or you're looking to hone your skills, join your local club and get playing!

Grand finals will wrap up the competition for all age groups on Friday December 1.

North Queensland Junior Championships - October 30 to November 2 (Townsville, QLD)

Like it's senior version, the junior regional championships will see the junior players from around North Queensland converge on Townsville to battle it out for the title of 'Junior Regional Champions'. It's three days of action, excitement and quality touch football as Queens Park comes alive for the biggest event on the regional calendar.
