Sharks Cap Off Dominant 2017

Sharks Touch Club have capped off a dominant 2017, rounding out the year with a successful finals campaign across five divisions.

You would be forgiven thinking it was a misprint, with five Sharks sides claiming bragging rights in the 2017 Townsville Junior Touch Football summer season grand finals at Queens Park on Friday night.

Earlier in the night saw Sharks pick up the "champions" tag in the 11 Boys age division, and "runners-up" in both the 9 Girls and 13 Boys competitions, but it was the victories in the 15 Boys, 15 Girls, 16 Boys, and 16 Girls competitions that brought it all home for the club. They weren't the only junior titles claimed by the club this year, with Sharks sides also walking away in June with the 14 Mixed title.

The trophies will join two others claimed by the club this year with Sharks sides winning the NQ Men's Open title in June and Townsville Touch Football Men's A-Grade shield in August.

Friday brought to a close an exciting 2017 Townsville Junior Touch Football summer season, with many games going down to the wire. Over 1900 players, coaches, referees, and officials took part in this season's competitions, with a near-record 168 teams, in one of the organisations strongest years on record.

The night also saw referees Makenzie Weier and Bailey Sloman recognised as "Most Promising" for 2017, as well as Sheralee Pugh awarded the 2017 Volunteer of the Year award.

Townsville Junior Touch Football would like to congratulate all teams on their victories, as well as thank all of our players, coaches, referees, managers, officials, and of course our parents and spectators, for making 2017 a very successful year both on and off the field.

The 2018 Winter Season (Junior Mixed) will start on Thursday March 15, and many clubs are now accepting registrations.
