For Sloman, it caps off an already impressive year, starting with his Level Three upgrade in May, adding recognition in October from the North Queensland Touch Association as the "Most Promising Male Referee", and ending with his appointment to the hard-fought 16 Boys Grand Final between Sharks Blue and Brothers Gold.
Having stepped into many roles throughout the season, including coaching and mentoring other up-and-coming junior referees, Bailey stood out above a strong group of junior referees this year.
Weier, who was also recognised at the QLD Junior State Championships in August by QLD Touch Football as the "Junior Female Referee of the Tournament", and again in October by the North Queensland Touch Association as the "Most Promising Female Referee", was the leading female youth referee in this year's competitions, culminating in her being appointed to control the exciting 16 Girls Grand Final between Sharks Blue and Brothers Gold.
Since starting her refereeing career at the age of 13, Makenzie has mostly flown under the radar, but has more recently established herself as a strong force amongst the region's referees, and is well on her way to achieving her Level Three accreditation in 2018.
It's a season of rewards for both referees, and Townsville Junior Touch Football would like to congratulate both referees on their achievements, as well as all referees on their efforts throughout the 2017 season.
