Thunderstorms Cause Early End to Round Six

Round six games met an exciting, yet premature end as participants and spectators were treated to a light show thanks to a mid-October thunderstorm.

The TJT Director, Kerrod Hall, was forced to enact the Extreme Weather Guidelines just prior to the conclusion of the second-last timeslot as thunderstorms approached the 10km "safe distance".

While the majority of games were able to be completed, games in the 7:30pm timeslot were ended early and all games at 8:20pm were abandoned in the interests of participant and supporter safety.

Unfortunate as it is that games were cancelled, Townsville Junior Touch Football is focused on the safety of all involved, and the cancellation of games serves as a reminder to all members and families of our Extreme Weather Guidelines and how they are used to ensure the safety of our touch football family.

All match results prior to the 8:20pm timeslot will stand as recorded on the scorecard, while all unplayed matches will be declared a "washout" and allocated points as by the competition rules (By-Law 11c).

"...teams will receive two (2) competition points and be allocated ‘For/Against points of 5/5. Bye teams will receive the usual three (3) competition points and be allocated the usual ‘For/Against’ points of 5/0."
