While we can't ever really repay the effort that our volunteers make to support our sport, we do our very best to recognise their contribution each year through the Townsville Junior Touch Football Joanne Sale Award for Volunteer of the Year.
First awarded in 2016, the award recognises those individuals that have gone above-and-beyond throughout the year to help their club, the organisation (Townsville Junior Touch Football), and the sport of touch football.
Nominations for the award close at 5pm on Friday 22nd November, 2019, with all nominees (one per club) being announced on Semi Final night (Friday 29 November) and the overall recipient being announced the following Friday (Grand Final night - 6 December).
Volunteers who fit the following criteria are eligible to be nominated by their club:
- Has actively contributed to the objectives of Townsville Junior Touch Football and/or their club in a volunteer capacity during the previous twelve-month period;
- Must be an ambassador for the sport who acts and works for the best interest of the game, never bringing the game into disrepute;
- Does not receive remuneration for their contribution (except reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses); and
- Presents a positive image for the organisation, and the sport.
