Super Round? What's That?

Hearing about this "Super Round" but not sure what it is? Here's all the info you need!

This year, due to COVID-19, our junior competition has been pushed back from its usual start date in late August. Instead, the first round of games will tap-off in early October, and that leaves us with less time to play a "normal" season of touch footy before the busy end of the year (mid-December).

But, rather than run a short season, we've decided to run a "Super Round" weekend part-way through the season to help us catch-up on some of those games we would have otherwise missed!

That means your team will play a regular round game on Thursday 29th or Friday 30th October, just like normal, and then back it up with at least another two (2) games that weekend.

While we're committed to making sure all teams play at least twice, if we are able to we'll fixture more games in to make it worth your while!

Where possible, we'll keep your games close together, most likely the same day as each other, but it will all depend on exactly how many teams we have join us in this season. Last year we had 186 teams, which will be no easy feat to squash into a weekend, and this year is already shaping up to be very similar!

We will know more about the format once our current competition gets underway and team nominations close (in the middle of October), but we will do our best to keep you as informed as we can in the lead-up. Be sure to stay tuned to our website and social media for any updates!

Just to be on the safe side though, we're telling everyone to to block out that weekend (October 31 & November 1) on their calendars. That way you won't accidentally organise any other commitments that might get in the way of enjoying this fun weekend.

If you have any questions about the Super Round, talk to your coach or your club and they'll be able to help.

Just to be clear though, the Super Round is separate from theĀ 2020 Townsville Junior Cup being held at Queens Park on October 3 & 4. Nominations for that event are open to your team, but it isn't part of our regular competition season.
