Commencing in November 2022, the new junior programme will focus on strengthening the pathway between participation in TTF's regular junior season, through to the NQ Junior State Cup North and the QLD Junior State Cup.
The updated programme is the result of months of hard work by the new TTF Representative Committee, which was formed after an initial meeting between representatives from each of TTF's clubs where the clubs voted unanimously in favour of a motion to enter Townsville sides instead of club sides into the 14-18's age divisions.
As a result of the revised programme, clubs will no longer submit Under 14's, Under 16's, or Under 18's teams directly into the NQ Junior State Cup North event, but will continue to submit club teams into the Under 10's and Under 12's age groups.
Teams in the 14-18 age groups will instead be entered under the Townsville Saints umbrella, with TTF aiming to enter multiple into each age group to ensure that structured representative opportunities are available to as many players as possible.
TTF has already commenced an Expression of Interest process for coaches, and will shortly commence a similar process for players wishing to be part of the exciting new pathway.
Interested players will be required to attend a Selection Muster weekend on the 19th and 20th of November, 2022, in order to be considered for selection into Townsville Saints squads which will compete at the recently announced 2023 NQ Junior State Cup North.
Players attending the muster will be required to indicate their availability to play in the 2023 Junior State Cup (July), with players selected for this event based on their performance at the 2023 NQ Junior State Cup North in April.
